Mohammed Iddi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of YomYom, has been selected as a 2026–2027 Obama Foundation Africa Leader. He is one of only 32 leaders chosen from across the continent for this year’s cohort, and one of two representing Ghana.
The Obama Foundation’s Leaders program recognises emerging leaders who have shown a real commitment to advancing the common good in their communities. In its official recognition, the Foundation highlighted YomYom’s impact under Mohammed’s leadership.
The Foundation also pointed to Mohammed’s commitment to shifting power in the agricultural supply chain back to rural producers, particularly women, and to his work building digital financial records for farmers outside the formal banking system, giving them a pathway to investment and long-term stability.
Looking ahead, Mohammed aims to scale YomYom’s model to reach 100,000 producers by 2030, extending access to formal markets to communities that have long been excluded from them.
“This recognition isn’t mine alone. It belongs to every farmer who trusted us with their harvest before we had proven ourselves, and every rural hub that showed us the model works. YomYom started because I watched smallholder farmers create real value and capture almost none of it. This is a signal that the world is finally paying attention to that problem, and I intend to use it to reach a hundred thousand more of them.”

The selection places Mohammed in a network of leaders working across sectors and borders throughout Africa, connected through the Obama Foundation’s Leaders program.
